Living in Light

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”

-Martin Luther King Jr.

There’s a light
that burns inside each one of us.
It’s there.
Waiting.

There’s a letter
written on each of our hearts.
It’s waiting,
mostly unread.

What will we do with this light?
How will we live out this letter?
Will we hide it away
and keep it to ourselves,
or will we let it burst forth
in brightness and in song,
so that the world might see
a tiny glimpse
of something greater than the self?
